The Superbowl is right around the corner! So if you're looking for a lighter appetizer to snack on during this year's game, try making these Buffalo Cauliflower Wings! Substituting cauliflower instead of chicken will still give you a great serving of protein, plus a lot of Vitamin C! Once you try these you'll realize they're just as delicious as they are nutritious.


What You'll Need:

  • One head of cauliflower
  • 1/2 cup of milk (you can substitute water to make it vegan)
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 cup of flour or gluten-free flour
  • 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground pepper
  • 1 cup of any hot sauce (if you want your spice mild, do 1/2 cup)
  • 1 table spoon of butter

Step 1:

Preheat oven to 425 F and grease your baking sheet with oil. Next, wash your cauliflower and break into smaller sized pieces. Once the entire head of cauliflower is broken up, place it into a bowl.

Step 2:

Next take a mixing bowl (or a Mason Jar, which is what we used) and add the milk, water, flour, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix together until all ingredients are intermixed.

Step 3:

Take your mixture and begin to pour over the cauliflower. I found it was easier to do this little by little to make sure that the cauliflower where nicely and evenly covered. (You do not have to pour all of this mixture if you feel your cauliflower is already coated with a generous layer.)

Step 4:

Lay your cauliflower out on your baking sheet evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes until a nice golden brown. While your cauliflower are baking in the oven, add your butter and hot sauce into a frying pan. Mix these ingredients until the butter starts to melt. Remove pan from heat once the butter is melted and make sure the ingredients are mixed well, then set aside.

Step 5:

Once your cauliflower are a nice golden brown after 20 - 25 minutes take them out of the oven. You then want to add your hot sauce and butter mixture over all the cauliflower. You can also add the cauliflower to your frying pan and evenly coat the cauliflower this way. Then place the cauliflower back onto the baking sheet and place back into oven for another 20-25 minutes.

Step 6:

Once they are nice and crispy looking, take your cauliflower out. Place onto a platter and enjoy with blue cheese, ranch, or a dipping sauce of your choice!
